Middle School Science

Middle School Science - General Science TBA

Appropriate for grades 5 - 6.

Course Description: Important science concepts will be taught to help students understand the basic principles of science rather than to merely teach them science vocabulary. The world is presented as a creation of God to be appreciated. How the world is ordered according to His timeless principles will be studied within the disciplines of life, physical and earth science. This course is being set up as a two year rotation to lay the foundation for success in our 7th and 8th grade life and physical science classes.

Middle School Science - Life Science TBA

Appropriate for grades 7 - 8.

Course Description: This course will provide students with a study in life science and is designed to answer their questions about themselves and the living things around them. The course will cover the relationship of science to the Word of God and examine the attributes of life, the classification system, cells, plant and animal life, and the human body. In class lab work will be included.

High School Science

Earth Science TBA

Appropriate for grade 9 - advanced 8th. Older students who need earth science are welcome to take this course with the understanding that it will be taught at the 9th grade level.

Course Description: An in-depth survey of the four branches of earth science: geology, oceanography, meteorology and astronomy. This course will not simply be a collection of facts, but a presentation of the interesting processes, historically important events, and the structures and actions that can be observed in or from the earth today.

Biology TBA

Appropriate for grades 10 & up.

Course Description: To introduce the student to a systematic way to study God’s living creation. Cellular biology, zoology, genetics, taxonomy, microbiology, botany and human anatomy and physiology will all be covered. Lab work including use of a microscope will be included.

Chemistry - Regular and Honors Debra Hinton Reid

Appropriate for grades 11 & 12. Prerequisite: Algebra 1.

Course Description: Covering all aspects of basic Chemistry for High School students, including atomic structure, elements and the periodic table, ionic and covalent Bonds, chemical compounds, chemical reactions, balancing equations, gases, solids and liquids and their properties, solutions, acids, bases, salts, thermodynamics, kinetics, oxidation/reduction, and organic chemistry. AN HONORS OPTION IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS COURSE,
