Public Speaking Judi Coleman

Appropriate for grades 9 and up.

Course Description: The ability to speak well in public can not be overemphasized for the high school student, for people who present themselves well in public feel better about themselves and have more career and college opportunities. This course will give your students the ability to:

determine their own style in giving presentations; learn the differences between making a "speech" and a "presentation.;" design different types and formats of presentations; build vocal strength and use more powerful words when speaking; use gestures and other non-verbal skills to increase their impact when speaking; create audio-visuals that enhance their presentations; learn secrets of dressing for success; receive specific feedback on their skills by being videotaped and critiqued in a supportive and collaborative environment..

Weekly homework assignments/preparation outside of class will be required.

Special Materials: $14.00 for workbooks, copies and videotapes Class size : 6-12.
